Selection.com Sponsors National Safe Environment & Victim Assistance Coordinators Leadership Conference
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- On May 4th, 2014, Safe Environment and Victim Assistance Coordinators from all over the United States will be flying and driving to the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, TN for a special conference. The conference will feature speakers and workshops focusing on protecting youth and preventing abuse.
Every parish, school and religious education program has a Safe Environment Coordinator. They are appointed by the pastor of a parish or principal of a school to assist in ensuring that the Safe Environment Policy is fully implemented. Victim Assistance focuses on reaching out to people who have been victims of abuse within the church.
“We’re proud to sponsor this conference,” said Selection.com President, James Boeddeker. “As a faith-based business, we have a vested interest in protecting children in church environments.” In addition to sponsoring the event, Selection.com will be hosting a bus tour of Nashville, and a “Cinco de Mayo” reception. Background check veterans with years of experience in protecting clients around the country for the last 20 years will be able to share their expertise with conference attendees.
Participants of the conference are also completing an on-line questionnaire about policies and procedures currently in place. Boeddeker explained that, “This questionnaire will help Safe Environment Coordinators identify what their colleagues are doing. From there, individual dioceses can identify best practices and improve upon their current policies.”
Selection.com has been helping their clients avoid risky hires for over 20 years. Boeddeker points out that that state searches like fingerprints do not offer reciprocity with other states, making it easy for someone to cross state lines and hide their history. According to Boeddeker, “Our national criminal database searches over 1,400 criminal repositories, making it harder for someone to cross state lines. In other dioceses, we’ve proactively uncovered criminal records that had been previously missed, thereby avoiding lawsuits for our clients.” Additionally, many states don’t report criminals to the FBI because they’re not willing to extradite them or pursue them across state lines. “Because of problems with extradition, it’s important to have residence-based searches as part of a volunteer background check system,” explained Boeddeker.
Selection.com was started in 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Selection.com provides a full range of employee screening background check reports including criminal background checks, employment verifications, education verifications, drug screenings and professional license verifications.
